The problem-solving competency allows determining why a problem occurs and how to solve it. The process starts by defining the problem, then collecting data and evidence to show the potential causes of the problem, and then identifying the root cause. Next, a hypothesis is made that by taking action, the cause can be eliminated, reduced or avoided, for which an action plan is executed. Finally, the effectiveness of the action plan is verified, the solution is standardized and the process starts again to identify new problems.
